I have expanded the British officer corps to give me a Highland Brigadier and a spare mounted officer to use as an ADC or courier. This gives each of my three infantry brigades their own dedicated commander figure.
The Highland Brigadier was the last item I needed to complete the OOB’s for Magersfontein so hopefully I’ll be playing that one in the not-too-distant future.
Loving the tartan there!
ReplyDeleteIt seemed only right that the Brigadier had a nod towards highland dress - I will parade the whole highland brigade shortly!
DeleteNice work IAN on your new Commanders- Jacklex are terrific figures.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev, I'm nearing the end of this project now with only a dozen or so more figures to paint.
DeleteIt would have been regulation a decade(ish) earlier so knowing how traditional senior officers can be, to me it seems reasonable as well as attractive. ( esp if the brigadier was rash enough to attempt to march his brigade in close order mass into rifle range before deploying just because it was dark out.)
ReplyDeleteRoss, as if, really!
DeleteA perfect identifier Ian and I think that they will look quite appropriate on the table! I look forward to Magersfontein with great anticipation!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brad, I'll get on with it as soon as the temperature in the cabin creeps up a bit!
DeleteLovely work Ian…
ReplyDeleteThe tartan looks spot on.
All the best. Aly
Fairly basic painting but in keeping with my style for this project!
DeleteIt's a style thing, and anyway what's the point of being camouflaged if you're going to sit on top of a horse? Are you going to do a campaign once the project is 'complete'?
ReplyDeleteI do have a vague idea to do a campaign eventually but I want to fight Magersfontein, Colenso and Spion Kop first!
