Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders

We had a trip to Stirling castle today, never been before and I highly recommend it - it's a much bigger site than I thought and you could easily lose four or so hours there. The castle is the home of the Regimental Museum of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders and this monument to the men who fell in the Boer War is right by the entrance.

No Boer wargaming going on at the moment but I hope to return to it in the autumn.

  1. Never been to Stirling Bridge but with 'The Bridge' and 'The Burn' nearby it's a bit daunting for a Sassenach.
Looking forward to seeing the Boer War re-start in the Autumn I shall regard that as a promise!

  2. Stirling castle is always worth a visit Ian…
Of course the most memorable thing about the place is that my Great Grandfather was stationed there and my Grandmother was born there….😁

    All the best. Aly

  3. Stirling Castle is a goodie and well worth the time, and as my father served with the Argylls in WW2 it's a win win for me!

    1. The Regimental museum was really well presented, probably the best I've seen.

  4. I visited it once, briefly, in the summer of '74. Oddly, I don't remember much.
