Bringing up the Guns

I wanted to add one more battery to the British OOB and whilst about it I decided to add a couple of limbers. I don't normally like to spend painting time on non essential items like limbers but in this case I thought it would enhance the overall look of the troops on the table.

Thanks to Mark at Jacklex for allowing me to buy these two-horse versions of the standard Jacklex six-horse set which are more practical for me with my limited table space.

  1. Excellent idea to cut the limber down to two horses Ian! That does save a lot of space and still looks great. And they really do enhance the look of the artillery piece, the whole scene looks much more complete and finished. Very well done!

    1. Thanks Brad, a two-horse limber is less of a chore to paint than a six-horse one so definitely the way to go!

  2. More guns! Huzzah! This should sort out those bolshie Boers.
The limbers will add a nice touch and add a bit more 'presence' to the queen of the battlefield.

    1. This will complete my British forces which are larger than I originally anticipated at over 250 figures!

  4. I agree Limbers are such a pain but they do enhance the visual look of the game

    1. I never like the thought of painting them but they always add to the look of things when done!

  5. Very nice Ian…
I do like the idea of the two horse limbers… you could add another two for horse artillery…

    All the best. Aly

    1. Aly, that would push my tolerance for painting limbers to the limit!

  6. Very nice. Those Jacklex gunners look the part, especially considering the age of the moulds.

    1. They are really nice little models reminding me of the fun I used to get out my old Airfix WW1 RHA set as a kid!
